Okay, so this post is a little different than a lot of my other posts.
I've been on vacation this past week, and my family decided to make my life a little easier by going on a donut tour!
Yes that's right, you heard me.. DONUTS GO-NUTS! We went to three different popular donut shops in downtown portland, at each shop we bought an old fashioned, buttermilk donut and we chose which shop had the best ones based on that.
The three shops we went to were:
Coco's Donuts
Blue Star Donuts
and Nolas Donuts
Now I know what you're thinking, how is this going to help me know which recipes are the best... Well I do admit it won't. And for that I apologize. But I do hope that because of this post, you crave donuts, and even more than that you crave a trip to Portland Oregon, where I hope you do get to try each of these donut shops.
We were blown away by these different donut shops, the the one that had the best old fashioned buttermilk bar was Blue Star Donuts.
What was so fun about Blue Star was that, there were some simple yummy spices in these donuts that made you think back to simpler times, and grandma's homemade cinnamon rolls. They melted in your mouth when you bit into them and were soooo tasty.
Coco's Donuts were delicious as well. The best donut from Coco's was a Lavender glazed donut. it was so soft and literally fell apart when you bit into it. The texture was amazing and the flavor was sweet and refreshing.
Nola's Donuts were very interesting because they we cronuts, like croissant donuts. They were flakey, buttery and so sweet like candy! The other amazing things at this place were the beignets . They fry them up while you're sitting there and cover them in powdered sugar. My niece loved them so much she wouldn't share with anyone around her. All of these places were amazing, but the very best old fashioned donut was from Blue Star Donuts.

I hope all of you have the chance to go to these donut shops sometime in your life, and I also hope that I get to have more adventures like this so all of you can hear more about the wonderful cooking in the world around us!
Yall are awesome!
