Crepes For Days

Crepes. Crepes for days.
Picture this. I'm standing in my tiny college apartment. Four burners are going on my stove, and all of my pans are filled with crepes. Yep, that was me this weekend. It was a Sunday afternoon and I had decided to take a nap. My nap was supposed to last thirty minutes... It lasted two hours.

I woke up in a panic and googled “ recipe for crepes”. I was stressed because I had invited people over to eat said crepes, and I had thirty minutes to whip up three batches of the time consuming delicacies.
Luckily the three top rated were easy to find and I was able to get going rather quickly.

The recipes themselves were very easy, they pretty much called for the same things, eggs, flour, milk etc. Although it has simple ingredients, the cooking process can be time consuming with the amount of crepes required to feed six people. I could go on for hours about the good and bads of crepes, but first, let me tell you about the winner.

OVER ALL WINNER:
ALL RECIPES

All Recipes crepes was the distinct winner. They had three votes whereas Delish and Food Network only had one. These crepes had the best consistency, they were thin and they stayed together well! They had a good buttery taste that went well with the sweet and savory fillings.

The only downside to this recipe is that I had to add maybe two to three tablespoons of extra liquid to make the crepes the lovely thin consistency that is typical to crepes.

Also the All Recipe website is extremely easy to use and had minimal ads. You don’t have to scroll forever to find the recipe, and it even gives you links to cheap places you can buy some of the ingredients.
You can't be mad! They were the final votes!

FOOD NETWORK
Food Networks crepes were good! Don’t get me wrong. The flavor was good, and the batter light, there was no need to add any liquid to this batter but there were some definite downsides to this recipe.

It has you use the blender to mix the ingredients, so not only did it add extra dishes, it also had you refrigerate the recipe for an hour so that the crepes wouldn’t fall apart. As a college student who likes to utilize their time in the best way possible. I felt like these added measures weren’t worth it, and even after an hour the crepes were flimsier than my other batters.

The Food Network website was very nice though! There were a links to recipes by celebrity chefs along the border of the recipe, and they have some other cool links taking you to information about their shows and magazines.

DELISH
Delish’s crepes were really thick, and required at least a 3/4 cup to thin them out. They did get one vote though. So if you’re looking for crepes that are thicker but just as buttery and sweet there are the crepes for you.

The Delish website is really fun, and has  the cooking time, serving size and prep time front and center. So if you don’t have a lot of time to make something you can go to the Delish website and see if they have some quick things you make up!

Now for some Pro Tips: I will probably do Pro Tips with every post. My protips will just be little ideas of things you could add to recipes, or things you can find on the websites I send you to. Have fun experimenting!

PRO TIP:
To make your crepes fancy and fallish, make spiced caramelized peaches, and put a little mascarpone cheese on the crepes! This creates a yummy sweet and creamy spiced crepe to fulfill your fall needs!

Also, for those savory lovers, you can turn pretty much any crepe into a savory crepe by putting eggs, meat, and cheese in them!

You really can’t go wrong when it comes to crepes!

BONUS PRO TIP:
If you are annoyed by ads, print the recipes! This will get rid of the adds, and if you like the recipe it will give you a hard copy to hang on to for as long as you want it!

I hope you enjoy the crepes!

  1. Hi! This is Emma Bringhurst (i'm logged in as my team blog) and I loooove crepes. My dad served a mission in France so i've had crepes my whole life and I took lots of years of French class so that calls for crepes all the time. My stepmom makes the best crepes ever though. The recipe is 1 cup flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 1 egg, 1 tbsp oil, and 1/4 tsp salt. You mix that all together and melt butter in the pan before you cook on it. Using a nonstick flat pan makes it sooo easy!! I love your idea of finding all the different recipes and choosing the best one. I think your idea of introducing your recipe findings with a story is really smart and it made me want to keep reading more.
