Lava. Chocolate Lava

Have you ever bitten into a rich, creamy chocolate cloud, only to have the bite melt on your
tongue, leaving you with a wish for more?
Chocolate Lava
Well I have. Chocolate lava cakes have been a family staple since I had to practice
making them for my culinary competitions in high school. I have used the same recipe for years. Knowing
that it was delicious and being satisfied with that knowledge.

Well shocker, it’s not the best.

Imagine my surprise when I see the results of my “fail proof” recipe not winning the praise and
accolades I once deemed it worthy of. But also, imagine my joy when I realized I now knew what
the best was. I have determined to rule the world with this winning Lava Cake.
I will too.

Food Network, has come back with a new trick. That being a delicious and perfect Lava cake
for the whole family to share. At least.. That's what mine did.

It was Saturday night and I had just been out to the symphony with my family. We got
home late and I knew that if I wanted to get my lava cake made I’d need to make this a friendly competition.
Friendly competition

We split up into teams and we each took one recipe to make. The results were almost unanimous.
Food Network literally took the cake.
Food Network!

FOOD NETWORK:

This recipe was easy to make, we were able to microwave the chocolate, and still get a silky texture from the batter.
I honestly think the reason it won was because it used two different types of chocolate. A semi-Sweet
and a bitter sweet the balance between the two chocolates created a perfect harmony that was simply
too good to be true.
Look at how different each batter is!

The website is how I explained last time, easy to use, and filled with fun links to other good recipes!

FOOD AND WINE:
Food and wine had a great recipe as well. The recipe was very different than the other ones,
it had you beat the egg whites, and fold in the chocolate.
This created a very silky and light batter. The only downside was that the chocolate was rather bitter.
We were beating the egg whites

The website for Food and Wine has a clean look and it's easy to navigate! Check it out
for some awesome recipes from Food and Wine magazine!

KRAFT
This Kraft recipe was the recipe I have used since my competition days. I have always
liked it and have always been impressed with the results! It is a good lava cake but the
flavor wasn't as rich as the other cakes because of the lack of a good bitter dark chocolate.
Kraft
Finished cakes!

The Kraft website has a lot of fun recipes, something cool about the website as well is
that it's very family friendly and focused. Go to it for some good kid friendly recipes!

All in all the competition went well, and now I know the best lava cake recipe we all won in the end… I mean. It was lava cake!

  1. But you didn't answer the question in your original post!!! Which is the best chocolate chip cookie.

I really enjoyed these three posts. I'm a big fan of all of these desserts and I'm all about figuring out which recipe is best so I'll totally come here next time. Chocolate lava may have just gone on my menu for tonight. I'm totally drooling!

One thing that you might want to consider adding at the top or at the side is a small blurb about what you are trying to do. I think you could really do something with this, but I wasn't sure what you were trying to do until after I read the whole first post.

Awesome job and I love your personality coming out. And Chance the puppy is darling!!!

I like how you went into detail of how you compared each cake. It helps the audience to know which is best;) Food network all the way! I also love how your personality shines all throught out this! You're so cute! Your blog is SO AMAZING. Keep it up, because I love reading about food and hopefully I'll make some the foods! And I also love Chance the pup!!!

  3. I really loved reading your blog posts. I love baking (although usually from a box) but I really enjoy watching cooking shows and your blog reminded me of one. It feels very genuine and personal. You have a lot of pictures which add a nice touch. Plus, everyone likes pictures of puppies. I think you put an interesting take on cooking. It kind of reminded me like Beat Bobby Flay where two chefs make the same dish but instead you have one chef using different recipes for the same dish. I think it would be cool if you posted a video of a time lapse of a few recipes. Overall, it’s a very nice blog.
